Getting ready for the winter season here in Ohio. Just upgraded from a Ford Edge which was quite impressive in the ice/snow...Can anyone tell me their experiences with their C-HR on ice/snow? How does it handle? I have a 30 minute commute each day and it can be quite challenging in the winter....Any insite on your experiences? I know that its nearly 1000lbs lighter than the Edge which could make a huge difference...Does it warm up quickly? Sorry...Just trying to anticipate the upcoming season.... Thanx all!:laugh:

Hi Doc I live I WV so same here...my commute is a little less but through some pretty hilly and curvy terrain...I'm very curious too. However I traded in a Pontiac Sunfire for my C-HR so I'm sure it can't be any worse lol

The C-HR is still relatively new and it's not winter yet so you may have to wait a while until you get and answer. I have read that slightly smaller wheels could improve winter performance.

get snow tire. Lighter car = even less grip on snow.

Unless you have the AWD version of the CHR... those would probably be decent with proper tires.

I've Recently experienced some significant wind while driving and she tends to be effected more so than my previous Ford edge (The C-HR is 700 lbs lighter too). What are your thoughts? I travelled to upper BC last month, and it was snowing there, this car was pretty impressive in the snow with Cooper weather master winter tires. However, don't compare it to an AWD car. For sure AWD does better, but for an FWD car, it performed decently in the snow.

Well I have winter tires on mine and we got a pretty good snow storm on Tuesday and I find it was okay. I guess like erichsieh22 wrote, nothing will beat AWD. I'm coming from a Subaru Forester with Asymetrical All Wheel Drive and during the storm I gotta say that I missed my Forester.

Do you guys think that we will see an AWD model in the future? I mean the Honda HRV offers it and that's certainly a selling point for anyone who deals with tougher winter weather. Not to mention the HRV is also available in manual, which I've always found better in the snow. You would think in these smaller lightweight crossovers that AWD would at least be an option.

CH-R owner from Sweden here. I've had mine C-HR since the end of May 2017. I loved it during the warmer climate. This winter has been mild but I do live outisde the town so the snow last longer for me so I've been driving it on snow, both when it has been plowed and when it's up to 25cm of snow on some parts.

I have winter tires (which we do need to use in Sweden and I honestly don't understand why not to use it in other countries where the climate can be colder). These are fricition tires so no studs.
Compared to my previous car (Volvo S80 with studs) I would say that the C-HR works surprisingly well. I do drive slower depending on how to road looks like (especially when the roads haven't been plowed yet) but the vehicle handles corners really well. The friction tires are not good on ice (surprise) but overall the driving.

The C-HR warms up fast from when it's started cold.
One issue I've had with it has been that there might be condensation on the windshield. Even with the windshield fans blowing hard against it it takes several minutes until it's gone.
I'm surprised there is condesation from the beginning since it's a new car. Never had this issue with my Volvo.
I was driving the car when it was around 10 Celsius outside with 4 adults and 1 child and the condensation was on the windshield quite fast. It did go away fast as soon as I started the fans to blow on it. But when I closed the windshield fan it came back again after ca 5min so had to repeat it the whole journey.

I love the car but it does have some issues.

Live in Maine and haven't had a problem....yet. Just get good snow tires and don't run all season tires during the winter. I plan to just run summer and winter tires. No all season tires.

When it comes to windshield defogging, if you really need to keep that fan on while attempting to stay warm in the cabin, the windshield+leg setting is pretty much the way to go.

Not much you can do about the window condensation, it seems to be a problem with Toyota because my old Camry kept fogging up once I turn off the fan. Takes a while to clear up the whole windshield too.

I wonder why they decided to lock the AWD option to certain regions. Its not like we don't get our fair share of snow in North America. It looks like you guys over in the UK got all the fancy bells and whistles.

Up here in Massachusetts it, blows in the snow. I figured it would but beat around the bush on dropping another grand or so for winter tires. IMPOSSIBLE in the snow with the crazy racing dunlops. I bet it would be fine w the snow tires I have to now buy...

I drove mine through some winter precip earlier this year. I didn't notice any issues with the 215 width all season tires. This is also precisely why I went with the base LE package and not the XLE or Limited. I didn't want to deal with the expense or the lack of performance in poor weather conditions with sportier/wide/lower profile tires.

I have the xle premium but I use 215 for winters. Been pretty good so far
