Already trademarked by Toyota, the C-HR could be joined by a more off-road orientated sibling carrying the TJ Cruiser moniker. So far there has been no confirmation from the Japanese automaker, meaning the FT-4X concept vehicle may not move on to production anytime soon. If it ever does go into production, the crossover should be positioned alongside the funky C-HR.

Designed to be a four-wheel drive toolbox, Toyota’s Calty Design Research Inc. in Newport Beach, pretty much equipped it with everything a casual adventurer would need. Targeted towards Generation Y. Millennials, the TJ Cruiser is perfect for quick escapes no matter the occasion.

Getting to a weekend campsite shouldn’t pose a problem for the TJ Cruiser and its generous approach and departure angles. Soaking up the uneven trails is a MacPherson strut front, double-wishbone rear suspension. Combined with a small displacement four-cylinder engine, mechanical four-wheel drive, selectable drive modes and you have yourself an impressive adventure drivetrain.

Then there is the laundry list of features including a North Face sleeping bag that doubles as a front arm rest, removable water bottle door grips, rotating slim air vents, removable multimedia audio system, ceiling-mounted removable flashlights, warming/cooling boxes, and more.

If the TJ Cruiser move on to production, would anyone be interested in getting the C-HR a stable mate?
