So I had my car for about close to 8 months now and it just passed 9k miles. I'm heading up to LA this weekend and back again later next week which is about 200 miles each way. I just checked my oil and it's brown and dirty. I know the oil we are running is full synthetic, but should I play it safe and get my oil changed before my second trip next week?

The toyota care thing changes your oil at the 10k mark. Maybe just go schedule it a little early?

I'm thinking about doing that, and it's my first oil change so it's part of the Toyota Care package. I wasn't too sure if my car will experience any problems once it passes 10k.

The Toyota care changed my oil at 5K? I would not go above that especially with a new motor. When new, the rings inside your engine are just seting in and there is much more carbon blow by past the rings contaminating your oil. I would change the oil before any trips at 9k.

Yeah.... Change the oil. I've been in a similar situation with other Toyotas and I just went to the dealership and explained what I was going to do. They had no issue with changing the oil a little bit early.

I did mine at 5k (To get rid of the new engine oil nastiness (break in)!!) and will do so again at 10k, after that i'll just follow manufactures recommended cycle (Every 10k ). If I were you @miyoshi82 I'll change it before heading on the trip.

Hey, I have a 2018 CHR and does anyone know off the top of their head what the automatic change oil mileage is? Mine seems to be set for around 3000 miles...??? Been running synthetic 0-20, so I gather from the posts here no sooner than 5000 miles is adequate. Do you just ignore the maintenance light and just reset it?
