autoguide.com thought it would show up at the L.A. Auto Show but we haven't seen it yet. Maybe the Scion iR will appear at the North America auto show next year if it doesn't make an appearance this year? I forgot the date but it should be near the beginning of the year.

Still hoping it'll appear before the L.A. Auto Show ends on the 29th.

It's quite possible Scion is saving the iR for the show's closing weekend (this weekend), we'll just have to wait till then.

For now, I heard it was to be based off the Aygo. If true, comparing the teaser in the link you provided to the current Euro Aygo design, we'll be getting something designed specifically for the North American market....as far as the rear end goes:

Could possible be based off the Aygo but toyota could have teamed up with Mazda again for the iR like they did for the iA.

So the iR could have a few Mazda design notes in it.

Kind of surprised I haven't noticed any articles or any buzz about it, no speculation or talk of expectations from auto pubs

We may not hear much more about it until next year's auto shows. What did Scion actually reveal at the LA auto show if it wasn't the iR?

After seeing the trademark filing, the concept we seen is starting to seem more like the real deal, plus when last have they ever shown off some crazy concept that was far from the real deal.

The Scion iM's concept model did look better but I agree, the production model could have been a lot more different. Think most of the change came from the bottom half of the bumper and the rear.

If it does look like the Aygo's then I assume the red under the trunk latch will extend to somewhere under the windshield wiper to match the teaser picture of the rear window.

Even if you do that, it's still different. How did you manage to miss the obvious body line right above the badge?

Let's hope they don't water down the body too much. Please don't make it look like the Toyota Prius. That one was a failure.

Scion has a history of keeping production models close to the concept, and concepts aren't all that far off from being production like. Just look at the FRS concept and the FRS production car.
