Hello There,

I am going to replace the radio to add Android Auto, and I would like use a iDatalink Maestro steering wheel interface unit. The iDatalink would allow the display of engine performance data on touchscreen. This is a future of the Kenwood DMX7704S receiver. iDatalink does not have the software for the CHR 2018 yet and they tell me that I could try a different Toyota model at my own risk . Any body has tried the iDatalink on their CHR radio replacement?

Thanks,

Bill

Well last night I rung the wire harness. Happy to report that I run into 1 problem only, regarding how the accessory power to the radio is wired. They wired the accessory power from the car going into the iDatalink module and is module that supply accessory power to radio. I called Maestro iDatalink an confirmed that's the way is design to work. To be honest if the connections are made as per their diagram color to color everything should work.

Not sure if this helps but in general car audio:

Yellow is constant 12v (always on)

Red is switched 12v (comes on when the ignition is on)

Black is Ground

What exactly is the list of parts needed to go with the radio to wire everything up? And is there a wiring diagram everyone is using? Last question, is anyone noticing better volume and clarity from their stock speakers with these aftermarket head units ? Thanks!

Dude, I'm bummed that you didnt go with the DMX7704S? I got that exact one, and the Maestrolink RR, sitting in front of me. I WAS hoping you'd be able to tell me what to do step by step, and if i needed to get extra harness or such
