Hello, I noticed that my puddle light on the passenger side is looking as if it is now allowing spot of light through in addition to the C-HR outline. Does anyone know if it is just a sticker over the light projecter that makes the C-HR outline. Is there a way I can take the C-HR and just have it project the light?

I've seen this issue from a couple different owners on some other forums. Doesn't look like there is a replacement part for it as of yet, but the dealer will replace the mirrors under warranty. That cant be a cheap repair, so hopefully they come out with a cheaper solution, such as some sort of new film.

I would honestly just like them as solid lights rather than the logo

There is a little door or piece that fits around the little light that looks like you could pop it off on the bottom of the mirror. Im afraid to mess with it without knowing anything about it, but it looks like a small panel about an inch x inch with the hole where the light shines through. It looks like if you had a thin tool to slide in, you could pop this panel off from the bottom of the mirror.

There are videos online of puddle light installs/replacements, but none for the CH-R specifically. Some can be accessed from underneath and others involve removing the mirror insert. Not sure its worth playing around with seeing as how its powered. If it was as simple as opening that little compartment, you'd think they wouldn't be replacing whole units.

Well I tried to pop it from below with just the minimum of force as I dont want to damage it and it was a no go for me. I could not get the cap off. It must have a release further up in the mech of the mirror shell. In the mean time, I put a little tiny round black sticker over the projector lens as I really dont want the spotty light on one side and fine on the other, so I just covered the projector altogether until they can be looked at. The puddle lights really are not important to me anyway, especially just saying CHR. I rather have full light projection. When its ready to be looked at I can just take the sticker off. Nobody can see I put it on anyway as the projector is slightly recessed into the mirror housing.

Sounds like a good solution for the time being. Don't think something so minor is worth fiddling with. Next scheduled maintenance you can have the dealer look at it. While its a neat little feature, its a shame that Toyota didn't invest in some better quality inserts that didn't wear out so quickly. Are we assuming its the result of moisture getting into the mirrors?

Thats the only thing I can think of that caused it. Maybe it was from the car wash high pressure water spray. It looks almost like the stencil that they use for the logo has lifted or deteriorated in areas and water has gotten between it and the clear part of the projector. Its really too small and too hard to see from the angle that faces down to see the projector point very well to tell anything further.

I have seen more posts in topics from C-HR drivers with same issue.. just claim it on warranty and you should get new mirrors.
It seems there is a partnumber for the glass.. and one for complete assembly. So no seperate parts of mirror are available.

Mine were replaced under warranty while the transmission and torque convertor were being replaced. Wish I could tell you all how it was done... They didn't replace the mirrors... Apparently just the film.
