Hello all,

New to the forum buy not Toyota I have 2 Priuses but was thinking of getting s C-HR XLE. I have 2018 set up to test drive tomorrow. That was until I saw this scathing article about all the issues that seem to plague the 2018 model.

I'd sure be interested in what experiences YOU have had with a 2018 if you had one of even what troubles haunt the newer ones. I feel I'd be a damned fool to buy a 2018 after what you can read in that article. I do realize that the article is an ad for his law practice of helping people with "lemon law" complaints. So I can't say he doesn't have an ulterior motive. Any help or comments will be appreciated and may sve me a big mistake. Your experiences will help me make a big decision.

Thanks a lot and you can just call me "J T"

Hey j!
Personally, I have the 2018 xle us.
Transmission was replaced under warranty at 35000 miles. And a couple of sensor wires were burnt a year or so later also covered.
Not what I expected from Toyota but other than that, I really, REALLY enjoy this car.
The low acceleration from the start is the only think that I find as a downside but, it seems, even that has gotten better over time (actually, it's prolly just me learning not to push it to the floor, just gradual acceleration)...
I'm actually actively looking for a 2021.

Hey
Hiya DR
Hiya Dr,

thanks for the info on your CH-R anything I can dig up is helpful. I don't think I mentioned how much I dislike the front end of the 2021. The darn thing looks like a giant catfish, sitting on the bottom of a creek waiting for something to float past! LOL Needless to say the 2018 gets my attention.

Looks like that car needs a set of LED headlights... I use Diode Dynamics SL-1 in my Prius, expensive yes, but boy can they light up the road. Thought you might be interested in hearing about them.

Thanks and be safe! Cheers,

J T

Yeah, the OEM headlights don't work very well. I installed some hid's from Amazon (I think they were $80?). Increased the view extensively.
I did the same thing to my last Prius IE: Added HID'S but once I saw the SL-1's I was sold. But they are pricey,,, and instant on, no warmup needed.

See ya
