The Honda HR-V and nissan Juke are just a couple of them. Do you have any brands you prefer? What are you looking for in this segment specifically?
I don't really have any preference of brand, but I like the sporty/unique appearance of the car, along with good gas mileage and spacious trunk cargo.

Any suggestions what would be the best between the competitors?

Actually the iR is supposed to be a city car, so when you consider that and other things in its segment you're quite limited.

So that could even be something like a used SmartCar, it's just about the best city car you can get and being on the used market for a while now, you'll get the most for your money with those.

Here's what a real owner had to say about their SmartCar:

Yeah, I'm definitely using it for daily commute within the city.

But I like the space of the scion IR. I know it's a bigger car and not ideal within the city.

Just like what that video review said, smart car are great for parking within the city LOL

Are you thinking of getting the IR?

I think that the iR will be fine in the city. There may be smaller cars but not much smaller. The iR gives you a bit more space so that it is more practical than a smartcar.
Yeah, I hope so.

I don't like the smartcar look. Too compact and looked like you're squished in there. Then again, I never sat in one to really judge it.

I can agree to an extent on SmartCar design but one thing we all can agree on is how good they are as city cars, it about the best it gets with functionality. Most don't see the value of one on paper, but get behind the wheel and you'll have mostly positive things to say.

Fortunately now we're getting some of that functionality in Toyota's, like this.

Very true, just like how I recently watched the smart car review and the guy was like me. He initially declined to ever sit in one or drive it around, but until he got into it, he loved it.

I'm just going to have to test them out in person.

I find the iR to be neat in design. Not sure if i'm feeling the rims tho lol

I don't mind the wheels, it's a small issue, i'm more in for how it drives and functions since those are things we can't change, wheels are wheels, you can always find something cheap that looks better and i'm thinking wheels from Five Axis will serve it well.

Indeed, that's what it comes down to since your experience also factors in. Guy in the video posted earlier owns a ton of different vehicles, so I value his opinion quite highly, someone with that broad experience would analyze the SmartCar far more or think of things someone with much less experience wouldn't think about.
