Hey guys!

Just picked up my 2018 CH-R Premium about 5 days ago, and I LOVE it. Never thought I’d be able to own a new Toyota, and was ecstatic when I saw the CH-R (don’t remember seeing one before).

I’m eagerly awaiting aftermarket performance parts to show up for it, but started with a K&N Air filter, like I always do.

Got my eye on some aftermarket cosmetic stuff on eBay, LED DRL Lights, stainless steel trim etc. can’t wait to talk more with you guys as well!

Welcome!
Welcome to the forum and congrats on your first Toyota! Excellent choice with the C-HR. Look forward to seeing all of your mods. Are you planning on getting a full aftermarket intake or just the filter swap?

For now I just did the K&N Air filter, and can honestly say I noticed maybe a 5-10% difference in acceleration. I have no been able to find a full cold air intake system (or other performance mods in general) for the CH-R.
5-10% is huge! Do you have any numbers to share? like 0-60 or quarter mile times. Fabricating cold air intake is easy but in case of CH-R I was under impression that CVT is the week link. Even if you make more power you will not be able to put it through the transmission to make any noticeable difference. Remapping shift curve might make a great difference. Putting it in sport mode and simulating manual shifts brings out the best performance as far as I could tell. One thing I would advice is to not oversaturate the filter with oil. Over time it will coat the thin wires in your MAF and actually rob power from the engine. I personally have seen 45 HP loss on a LS7 engine over six consecutive dyno pulls from a K&N filter set up. Seventh pull the MAF was cleaned and we regained the lost power.

Toyota has also showcased a new kind of CVT that they have been working on, that is supposed to eliminate the lag in acceleration. They are going to be equipping all future CVT's with a launch gear, which for the first time is a fixed ratio.
