That's even more outrageous looking than the C-HR concept and I'm not sure if it's the good kind that draws in interested buyers.

If it was a small version of the FJ Cruiser with exceptional off-road capability then it does have a leg to stand on. But the C-HR platform wasn't really meant for that.

This is good news for me because looking at the 4X's design its a good indication of what we can expect of a next Generation FJ if they even plan on making a true successor to it and not leave us with this.

Well, it won't be as off-road capable as the FJ if it ever does go into production since it's more geared towards millennials and their occasional camping trip. But it'll still be better for country drives than the C-HR even though they both share the same platform.

"I always imagined like the C-HR is the city mouse and FT-4X is the country mouse," said Ian Cartabiano, studio chief designer at Toyota's Calty Design Research center and part of the FT-4X design team.
