Aloha, spend entire day yesterday pulling plastic trim pieces from trunk area and applied 200 mil dynomat to back sides of all plastic trim pieces, inside of hatchback as much as i could reach, and put pieces behind all wires and trunk release cables to keep from vibrating. applied to back side of license plate holders, and matted the entire back side of license plates. covered as much of inside gas filler door, and applied to all removable plastic covers in engine bay (fuse box cover etc.) and applied 2 layers to front bumper tow hook cover, as that was pretty loose even after 1 layer.
also removed the rear seat, and applied to entire area under seat and also entire trunk area. (pulled spare tire and all the Styrofoam pieces out).
Already it has made a huge difference in sound quality, and has eliminated many of the buzzes and rattles i was getting before.
Next project when i find time is to remove all 4 door panels, and apply as much dampener as i can.
Eventually would like to pull headliner and do roof. - if anyone has removed the headliner, please let me know how to remove. - many thanks

My goodness, this one has been in my dream-list to do, but it's so labor intensive. I bet it makes the car feel much more solid and posh with better sound/vibration deadening.

Are you following any kind of pattern/coverage recommendations, or do you just try to cover as much open area as you can?
I thought people mostly try to apply it on the bare metal, not the plastic portions.

How did you remove the trunk/hatch panel? I've tried, but somewhat scared of breaking a piece of plastic trim.I've done all 4 doors and even the hood...but need to do the hatch.

aloha, for the trunk/hatch panel, just use a flat trim remover tool and start at either bottom outer corner, this entire panel simply pops off, so just slowly work your way around it, and it will come off.
i originally thought i was just going to cover all sheet metal, but quickly realized that is not an option, as you have to leave all the mount holes bare to get clips back in. So basically any place i could stick a piece i did. made sure to add pieces behind all cables and wires so they dont vibrate against any panel or the sheet metal. you want to cover any flat area as where the metal curves its typically doesnt vibrate as much. stuffed as much into the tailgate inner as i could reach. But i had alot of buzzing coming from all the plastic trim pieces, so carefully removed all of those, and covered any area not used as a mount. made sure i brought dampener to edge of plastic trim, so it has a buffer between the plastic and the sheet metal. Put quite a bit in and on the gas tank door, covered entire back of license plate, and put a layer between license plate and the plastic cover/holder. Went into engine bay and added dampener to all plastic covers like the fuse box etc. and had to add 2-3 layers on entire front bumper tow hook cover to get that piece solid and not rattling. it was very loose. Hoping to pull door covers this weekend and get as much into the doors as i can. you also have to make sure that where you mount it you can get to it to either roll it, or be able to press it quite hard with hands, in some places i was able to use a long socket in tight spaces to roll it flat. Already its made a Huge differance in how quite the car is while driving, and how much cleaner the audio is with out all the buzzing.
