Just got a new 2019 C-HR and was really disappointed to find out that Android Auto will only be available for the 2020 model. Has anyone heard of a possible firmware update to our 2019 Entune systems whenever the 2020 model releases? Through research some people say there will be some say there wont.

With the 2020 model now officially having Android Auto, the chances of us with the 2019 models getting an update is certainly a possibility now. I posted some videos of some first looks of the 2020 C-HR. The head unit looks to be unchanged as far as hardware from the 2019 model. They're still referring to it as Entune. This leads me to believe it's the same hardware with the updated software. At a minimum, I would think the 2020 headunit would be a plug and play for us 2019 owners. But I don't think we'll have to go that far.

The 2019 Corolla HB owners are in the same boat as we are with the 2020 HB having Android Auto. I would think it would be a total PR nightmare if Toyota doesn't put out a firmware update for us 2019 owners.

Again, the fact the 2020 model now has Android Auto gives me more hope than before.

Ok that's reassuring. I dug up some information via the Contact Us page from Toyota. They had a FAQ section right after you type in an email message. The first question was if AA was coming to older models and they just flat out said no. But like you said, I can see this becoming a huge PR nightmare and I am sure a lot of us would fight for the right to use AA on our 2019 models. Let's just hope it comes true!

I just recently purchased a 2019 C-HR and was told that Toyota would be releasing an update for the 2019 models in Dec 2019 or Jan 2020. I really hope they were't blowing smoke to make me pull the trigger because i told them it was a must have feature for me.

I bought a 2019 C-HR a couple of weeks ago. I was told there would be an android auto update and it should be released in December 2019 or January 2020. I can't find anything to support it online, so my only source is two people at the Toyota dealership. It was a deciding factor in my purchase so I'm really hoping they weren't just telling me what I wanted to hear.

Well, let's hope what we've been told by the various dealer reps are true. I'm still astonished how poorly Toyota is handling the issue with Android Auto. Nothing is real until we actually see an official announcement of an update from Toyota. Until then, it's all speculation and conjecture which is why I'm so vocal about abysmal handling of this by Toyota.

Response from Toyota today 12/17

Thank you for taking time to contact Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. and we appreciate the opportunity to address your inquiry regarding the inclusion of Android Auto®️ in our vehicles.

While Toyota strives to innovate and look for ways to include new technology in our vehicles, Toyota has not announced an Android Auto®️ retrofit strategy at this time. We certainly appreciate your inquiry and interest. You can sign up for the latest updates with our RSS Feeds and/or receive email alerts when new information is posted in the Toyota USA Newsroom.

Your email has been documented at our National Headquarters. If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,

Daniell T.

Not a surprising canned reply from them. So it's just business as usual for them. Meanwhile Australia has already announced retrofit plans for some of the Toyota models. Again, this is absolutely the worst handling of a customer sat issue/feature roll out I've ever seen.

...well here we are, 2023 and STILL no android auto for my 2019 C-HR. The only option we have is to buy a new head unit from other companies and the reviews for those are mid at best. TOYOTA, JUST GIVE US AN UPDATE....please.
