Coolant Fluid

Hey guys!

It seems like I have a low coolant fluid level somehow... So I need to fill it up with antifreeze, however, I've never done it before. Do you have any suggestions in terms of coolant fluid brand?

Excerpt from page 345 of US Owners Manual:

Coolant selection
Only use “Toyota Super Long Life Coolant” or a similar high quality ethylene
glycol based non-silicate, non-amine, non-nitrite, and non-borate coolant with
long-life hybrid organic acid technology.
For the U.S.A.: “Toyota Super Long Life Coolant” is a mixture of 50% coolant
and 50% deionized water. (Minimum temperature: -31°F
[-35°C])
For Canada: “Toyota Super Long Life Coolant” is a mixture of 55% coolant
and 45% deionized water. (Minimum temperature: -44°F
[-42°C])

Maybe the dealership will top up your coolant for free since it's an oddity for it to be so low. I'm not too well versed when it comes to vehicular liquids aside from wiper fluid, so I usually leave it to them.

So, I brought my car to the mechanic and it seems like antifreeze was leaking out from the reservoir. There was a little hole in the coolant hose, guys have fixed it, filled it up with a new antifreeze (don't know the name of it) so now my C-HR is back to normal.

Good to hear it was an easily solved problem and it'll be a good benchmark for anyone else with the same problem in the future, though it makes me think how prevalent this hole problem is in the car.

I don't think that it's some kind of manufacturing issue... I hope it's not. Anyways, if you've faced this problem it's not a big deal, however, it's better to fix it ASAP, so it doesn't cause any engine damages. (C) my mechanic
