Toyota Rental Program

Toyota is coming out with a rental system that'll allow you to pay off your lease by renting out your car. It's like car sharing and they use an app called Getaround so you don't need to leave your keys to other for rental.

Personally wouldn't want random people in may car but it could help people pay off their C-HR lease if they don't mind the uncertainty.

Sure, if it's a second hand car that I don't care too much. But if anything happens, whose insurance will the damages fall under? They didn't really go into specifics about their plan.

This definitely has a lot of blank spots throughout it. There's going to be a lot of questions from consumers that they're going to have to provide answers for to make it work.

I can't just trust anybody to get in my car and drive it. We don't know what they're driving skill is at or anything of the sort. They're strangers. On top of that I wouldn't want to keep anything in my car either just in case someone decides to rummage through my things.

I think lease plans have a mileage limit too? There's so many unknowns and they said they're ready to test this plan, but from my perspective there are so many hole in it.

They will most likely give you the option to select insurance when getting the vehicle like every other rental company out there. I guess you never rented a vehicle ever before.

I think once they release a lot more information on how this works exactly, it may make sense. Even if they give you an insurance for this service, I still don't want to deal with someone damaging it, then it goes to get fixed, and I have a "violated" vehicle. I personally don't feel like the vehicle is the same, just a pet-peeve, even if it's fixed properly.

Great, that right there is the quickest tell to it's not for you. If your that attached to your vehicle, which is perfectly okay, then just stick to regular ownership. But as long as the repairs are done correctly, whats there to worry about? Slightly lower value, yeah sure if its documented and will show up in a CarFax, but you feel it has been "violated" is just ridiculous.
