Exclamation Has anyone tinted the windshield yet? Any problems with electronics?

I just picked up my C-HR last week and have been calling around to get it tinted. One shop advised me not getting the windshield tinted because according to him, a lot of the new Toyota's and Honda's have been having electrical issues after windshield tint due to the excess water that drips down into the dash during installation. I have always tinted my windshields on all my cars and have never heard of anything like this. Can anyone chime in so we can see if this is an actual concern or if it is only a concern for an unprofessional installation.

Not sure about water damage, but I do know the owner's manual says to not tint the windshield anyways.

Sounds to me like something you'd only encounter from an amateur install. I personally have never had a windshield tinted, so I'm a little unfamiliar with the process. If this was a legitimate concern I'm sure there are preventative steps that could be taken.

I tinted mine. Shouldn't be any problem if you use the ceramic or carbon one. The cheaper metallic tint can block off signals for phone and radio... but your problem sounds like an installation issue.

Good to know someone else has already done it without any issues. It most likely is an installation thing then, definitely will take the time to find the right shop for that job. What % tint did you go with on your windshield?

are you the police? It's illegal to do! D:

I went with 80% for windshield, and 60% all around.

Ooo nice!

Here's mine -- did it back in Dec 2017 (old pic). So far so good.

opted with 60 because i had dual dash cam, and didn't want it to be useless at night. Plus, it removes the attention from the front

Looks great. It doesn't even look that dark at 60%. I may lean towards 50%. Will post pics when it's done!

Were you able to test/confirm that it did not affect the lane departure warning system. It uses a camera looking through the windshield. I'm liking the tinted look.
